American and British ballads and folksongs

"...Langstaff is a marvelous singer with a honey-oak baritone and a knack for getting to the heart of these old tunes with a maximum of emotion and a minimum of affect."--The Boston Herald (December 2002)
Originally released in 1959 by the seminal folk revival label Tradition, this adventurous collection of traditional American and British songs offers a remarkable vista of moods, from tragic to flirtatious, lovelorn to mischievous. Langstaff is accompanied by lyrical pianist Nancy Woodbridge, and many of the settings were composed by legendary British folk icon Cecil Sharpe.
